What does Dream call Nightmare?-

For Dadmare: At the last stage, "Daddy" (preferred) or "Dad" (quicker and more 'mature'-sounding), though at some point it was "Father" and before that, "Mister Mare." Nightmare constantly protests being called "dad" but Dream will never stop.

For Moonbeam: "Nighty" and "Big brother."

At first I thought it would’ve been one of those creepy cute things- but then the cuteness didn’t come and I was sooooo in for all the creepy content! I loved it! ooc - i heard a sound on tiktok that instantly made me think of dadmare au. it’s from the fnaf movie where abby asks mike why everybody always looks angry at him. fnaf movie aside. “she looks so angry… why does everybody always look at you that way?” is perf for them i think. the boy and the old man.

Hi I have been watching your dadmare au really interestingly!! I found your artwork at googling and it was just awesome...

I was curious what if....dream gets sick, like high fever or cold? Kids get sick easily than adults, and they should take not strong medicine as their body is still growing...I am curious dadmare's reaction!

Wow, thank you so much for the ask! I was surprised to see someone send something, since the story has been inactive due to busy life stuff. Your English is fine, don't worry.

If Dream were to get sick, Dadmare would be really worried and fussy. He would spend all his time taking care of him and being by his side. Soup, blankets, wiping his nose, wet cloths on his forehead and wiping him down. Since they live in an area where medicine isn't easily accessible and healers are rare, he would have to take care of him on his own. For children around this time (since medical knowledge is safeguarded to certain professions or it's rare) it's possible for a sick child to die.

However, since Dream is a well-beloved child by the Village, they will probably send someone to check up on him. The only issue that Dream and Nightmare do not have monster souls, so healing doesn't really work on them. An apple would help, but he has a strong aversion to using or touching them. The Village may even threaten to take Dream since he got sick, and he needs care.

Hey, sorry if someone already ask this but, I am curious about what happen to child nightmare or passive. Since dadmare seem to be teleported to the past... Then does that mean passive just mysteriously dissapear and gone forever or he just also got transported to the future with grown up dream? (｀・ω・´)

Ohoh, I didn't answer this, did I? I think I tried to keep it vague, but because the decision was changed (talked extensively with my beta and then missed him really badly,) I should let you guys know he will show up later. It would be cute if he went to the future (I already thought of an AU for it haha) but that is not what I intend on happening.

In summary: He is still in the same world as Dadmare and Sunbeam and will be later referred to as Moonbeam. He will be found. Development is to follow. (chime noise) Thanks for your patience. Don't want to reveal spoilers.

The only question left for you guys is: How / why did he disappear?

i'm very very intrigued as to why the village would need so much help from what is clearly a little child. powers and magic aside, dream is still a kid.

I was jazzed to answer this in the last chapter (chapter 4 at time of writing this), and I’d go further to say it’s certainly going to be a big part of his motives later. He’s definitely upset, but he can’t show or feel it around Dream-the child is too observant for his own good. Nightmare will be confronting them in due time, and they will be made most aware of their transgressions. I’ll be exploring their actions and behavior more in the next chapter, actually, about why they’d rely on Dream.

If Mister Mare leaves into his Timeline and home, but Night won't return to Dream's after, wouldn't that mean that Dream would be all alone?

Hahaha, yes. That’s only if Mister Mare would be cruel enough to leave Dream, after seeing and learning all he has now. It would be a horrid timeline, for Dream to be given the experience of a guardian who cares for his well-being… and then to be forced to live alone again. Dream would convince himself Mister Mare was an imaginary friend, and perhaps even pretend that he was still there. Dream would have to mourn two people.

What do the villagers think of Night and Dream

Poorly. By Night, I assume you mean the child version. To them he is the very bane of their existences, the reason for all ill and bad luck and tragedy. Conversely, Dream is a little angel who is powerful and useful, who lives to make them happy.

Dadmare terrifies them beyond all imagination. Not even a demon compares to the horror that he brings them. To the villagers, he is the culmination of hatred and despair. He is the dark that flickers in their periphery, that stalks the corridors. Their homes grow cold and unwelcome under his growing hatred. He is the very spirit of terror. Some whisper that they are getting what they deserve. That this is retribution for their sins. Those with sense have already moved away. Those too stubborn to do so will learn regret.

I apologise if this is like the ‘when will you finish [side project]’ question in your FAQ, but I was wondering what happens at the end of ‘A Gift For Sunbeam’ comic? The one where Dadmare makes a toy for Sunbeam and learns to sew!

Oh, I totally forgot about that comic. Yeah, so at the end, Sunbeam tries to make Dadmare something and it is just so ugly, but Dadmare cherishes it all the same. It was probably a knit scarf or a matching doll, except Sunbeam is like seven and can't sew. Most viably, an embroidered handkerchief with messy, little yellow flowers like the ones on Dream's pillowcase.

That, or he drags Dadmare to the toy store and makes Dadmare choose himself a toy ("You didn't get to have toys as a baby, Dad?!" "It's not that big of a deal...") To which Dream pouts and fusses under Dadmare reluctantly gets his doll a friend, probably some plush as well- like an owl.

Oh, and Dadmare completes the Lil' Nightmare doll for Sunbeam. I contemplated something happening to it and ruining the doll / staining it grey (like dropping it into mud or some kids playing with it and fumbling it) but I felt like it'd be so mean. Sunbeam would love it either way.

I also thought it may be cute if it was reversible - one side was Sunbeam, the other was Lil' Night. ("That way, you two will always be together.") But it would be cuter for there to be two dolls, that way both children get to have one and not be lonely. However, at this time, I had not contemplated accommodating Moonbeam.

Yeah, they'd (the henchmen) probably get him one from a market they raided or something. One of those things that have the little slots and you put the card in. Or it's a really cheap fake flip phone. The ones that sing that butterfly song.

He would play that loud ass thing until the battery ran out and started making haunted noises at the dead of night.

What would be baby Dream's favorite show? And how long does Dadmare let him watch TV?

In post-story (or a modern au) Dream would love Bluey, or Curious George.

I also think that the guys would watch anime with Dream. Cardcaptor Sakura and Sailor Moon especially. Nightmare probably has to make Dream little baby cosplays later on because his dear brother requests it be so, but the old man isn’t doing much else besides the usual torment and suffering.

Dadmare lets him have an hour of TV after mealtimes. So around 2-3 hours a day. Granted, the guys aren’t great influences when it comes to not watching TV, but all of them slowly start spending more time playing with Dream than being on the couch. Plus, the shows they watch are banned from being played in Dream’s hearing vicinity.

(Error, however, fights for reigning title of Coolest Uncle/Dad/Duncle by letting Dream watch a little bit of his favorite show: Undernovela.)

I'd do the fairytale renditions of each, but I'd get wayyy too carried away LOL. I may change these at any time, but I'm planning on certain theme of death throughout the figures-however, it's not my specialty and I don't want to butcher them, so I may stick to more well-sourced or well-known figures of fairytale/folklore.

The Pale Knight - Cross (usually accompanied by a white horse)

The Wolf - Horror (also the Clever or Patient Wolf)

The Headless Horseman - Dust (LMAO)

Killer's is still undecided, but likely the Fox.

If Error is mentioned, probably the Spider.

If Ink is mentioned, probably the Coyote.

Since three out of four of the Gang have a (if I am correct) European origin, I may change Killer from the Fox to match. I've been looking into Celtic and Irish folklore for any trickster spirits associated with death, but I've still yet to really delve.

Ink and Error are unrelated to the Gang. But I do note that Anansi the Spider is a good favorite inspiration for Error. The Coyote for Ink fits particularly well for being a trickster and creation mytho.
